Takes power in 1971!
Amin took tribalism to its extreme. He had prosecutions of Acholi Lango and other tribes. He executed people who were loyal to Obote like officers and troops. If the people that were loyal to Obote in prison, he would throw dynamite to kill them.
Amin expels 40,000 to 80,000 Indians and Pakistanis. He makes 50,000 to 70,000 Asians leave the country with what they could carry. He forced the white residents of Kampala to carry him on a throne and kneel before him and recite the oath of loyalty.
Amin was rumored to be a cannibal. He bragged that he ate human meat. There was a rumor that he kept the severed heads of his political rivalsin his freezer and brought out on silver platters atdinner so he could taunt them while he was eating.
Amin starts a persecution against rival tribes and supporters of Obote, killing about 300,000. Some of the villiages were completely wiped out. After the killings, bodies were dumped in the Nile River. So many bodies were dumped that it clogged the river, and some of the aligators ate them.
By the end of his regime his full name was Idi Amin Dada Oumee. AKA 'Big Daddy', AKA 'Butcher of Africa', AKA 'Conqueror of the British Empire', AKA 'Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea'.
